FGA BOARD MEETING
JANUARY 19, 2010
MINUTES
Meeting called to order at 8:01 PM. In attendance were: Team Crime Scene, Dale N Barb, Tallahassee-Lassie, FSUDad, paintfiction, MulderNScully, M&M_Melted, JerseyGirl & Bruno and fashionably late Clan Riffster.
Agenda Item #1 – Finances:
FSUDad gave a quick financial report. There is about $1149.16 in the bank and $328.06 in the paypal account. Taxes and all penalties have been paid.
FGA filed for an extension for Federal and State taxes. Tax statements are now due September 15, 2010. The Board agreed to use the same accountant as last year. Cost to file taxes will be $250.
Filed 2010 annual report with the Florida Department of State, Division of Corporations.
Agenda Item #2 – Geocoins/Hats:
Geocoins - The remaining geocoins were auctioned off on Ebay as the board approved.
Coin set when for $28.00 - a very modest premium over its original sale price of $27
Gold coin went for $18.01, double the original price of $9
Copper coin went for $12.50 a modest premium over its original sale price of $10
Nickel Coin went for just $8.50, again a modest premium over the original price of $8.
Hats – Thought all hats had been delivered to Dale n Barb as agreed and sell them through their store. Dale n Barb have not received any hats from roundnround. FSUDad will check with roundnround about the hats.
Agenda Item #3 – T-Shirts:
The new shirt designs are at the printers. Waiting on comps, may be available on January 22, 2010. Shirt will be Tan/Khaki with black art work. Shirts will be similar in quality to last shirts (green) sold by FGA. Shirts will be sold for $10 at events and $12 if shipped. Discussed pre-sale of shirts, but there may be some problems using PayPal. Paintfiction to check on this and notify the Board. Shirts may be available by January 31, 2010. Shirts will only be available in sizes Medium through 2 XL with this printing, if there is a great demand for the shirts the Board agreed to order additional shirts, to include kids sizes and up to 4-5 XL.
The Board agreed to provide shirts to the cachers involved with the design work.
Agenda Item #4 – NW Florida Representative:
Roundnround we go has decided to step down from the board and recommended that the Board approve the appointment of Lionslair as his replacement. The Board voted to approve Lionslair as the Northwest representative.
The Board would like to thank Roundnround we go for his support of the FGA.
The Board would also like to thank PWCinPC for his support of the FGA.
Agenda Item #5 – Florida Caching League:
Jersey Girl has been talking with some out of state cachers about setting up a caching league. Look for more details on the forums soon.
Agenda Item #6 – FGA Events:
The FGA will be sponsoring three events around the state in the coming months.
The northern event will be held at Forest Capital Museum State Park in Perry on March 6th, 2010. The event will be hosted by Tallahassee-Lassie, paintfiction and the new NW Florida Representative. Look for the event to be published soon.
A southern event is also being planned. Details are being worked out and will be published soon. The event will be hosted by MulderNScully and Team Crime Scene.
There will also be a central event(s) that will be held the weekend of April 16-18 at the McGregor Smith Scout Reservation. The Scout camp is located near the intersections of I-75 and the Florida Turnpike. We hope to have a Friday night event, two events on Saturday and a CITO on Sunday morning.
Agenda Item #7 – New FGA Board Members:
The Board welcomed three new members. Paintfiction is now the FGA representative for Northeast Florida, replacing Shimski, Team Crime Scene is the new FGA representative for Southwest Florida, replacing Doc Dean and the new At-Large member is M&M_Melted, who is replacing Isonzo Karst.
The Board would like to thank Shimski for his support of the FGA. Also, a BIG thank you to Doc Dean and Isonzo Karst two of the charter board members of FGA for all of their support and dedication in establishing the Florida Geocaching Association.
The Board scheduled the next meeting for Wednesday, February 17th at 8:00 PM.
